bleh...
SO: I have been up to THINGS...
I've taken the trike over to Matlock Bath for biker sundays a few times, and had people blocking the pavement to poke and examine and to question the big old lovely monstrosity.. :) And the trike has been running really nicely.
Lucie is in sweden right now, I'm missing her loads.. I basically become a working hermit when she's not around... should be seeing her soon, though, when I travel over to amsterdam in october. Woot!
I'm back at work, and so far I've not killed anyone.
I have FINALLY found THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Toek6Cdl dC8 (worksafe)
Myself and Nathan have been working on Kellys' trike, a cute little mini engined automatic thing.
I'm starting to think that I want to start working on another trike project...
I've just finished a very interesting book, factual, about the history and use and misuse of cocaine: Entitled "Cocaine" (yeah, right), by Dominic Streatfeild. REALLY interesting. Freud* created the first cocaine addict.
My beard is currently raging out of control, in a comedy stylee. My hair is almost at floppy stage. Pics sometime.
Now I'm off to work. Have fun, kiddies..
*yes, that Freud.

As from 24 hours time, we'll be on the trike, heading for France.
I'm really excited, coupled with being tremendously nervous about the trike.
Heeheehee! :D

first thoughts, trikewise...

HELP! hehehe, well, not completely.
It's fast, that's for sure, although driving it without a crash helmet makes it seem about twice as first as actual speed. Last night, on its inaugural drive/ride (what IS appropriate here?), I was following Nathan and Kelly to MFN, for the bike night. We got up to 60 on the way there, and I was bricking myself. Grinning like an idiot, though :)
Braking is no problem, it responds very fast, but then it is a servo assisted brake. On the rear, that is - the front brake is practically defunct. But necessary for the MOT...
Steering. Aah, steering. It don't like turning corners, this thing... it can be done, but in a few weeks I am seriously going to have shoulders the size of grapefruit.
Only down point is that the indicators have started showing some really odd behaviour.. not indicating correctly, flashing together (like the hazards), not functioning at all in low beam... Nathan gets the fun job of trying to sort them out today while I'm here at lovely lovely work.
All in all though, I just want to be out on it right now.... I guess that's a good thing :)
And switching between the car and the trike is MENTAL.... have to relearn how to control each machine every time...
The final conclusion is : FUN!

Trike now running.. BIG PHAT V6 making growly noises is most fun, when coming from my garage... electrics are working.. horn is noisy, warning lights and indicator lights are all good, just need a tweak here and there.. and a few more bits sorting, like seating, the second rear light unit, just a few bits and bobs. This has taken the WHOLE DAMN DAY, though....

if anyone is running Vista.. be warned about service pack 2. Yesterday I discovered by dealing with customers, and then looking up loads of stuff.. SP2 removes ALL previous system restore points.

The beastie should be finished pretty soon.. We've managed to get loads done to it over the last few days.. the major benefit of having a garage, I guess... :p

That, in case you DIDN'T know (pff!) was the start of "Bad to the Bone", by the inestimable Mr G. Thoroughgood. I have that playing through my mind every day right now. There is a good reason for this....
I am now the (ludicrously) chuffed owner of a lunatic monster trike..
For the petrol heads.. :
V6, Essex engine (ex-ambulance)
Rear end of a jag (no clue what, fairly big)
about 6 foot wide, 12 foot long..
and sounds like something scary. here... have a (cut) pic.. :)

Oh godddd.. work sucks today.
Well, I have a new filter for my uberbig tank, and I was maturing it on the L shaped 6 foot tank.. All filters have a colony of bacteria living in them.. to break down the waste from the fish and plants.. and this only grows when a new filter is introduced to that self-same beneficial bacteria. Hence, why I am running my new filter on an old tank.
SO - I had just hooked up the new filter to the older tank, and was leaving it to pootle on and colonise the filter with bacteria.. this was on thursday night, by the way.
I'm there playing away on burnout paradise (I'm now Elite.. just waiting to get the last few showtimes :D) and Spee comes in and jumps up onto the big tank. He does this a lot, so this isn't a problem.
After about 5 minutes, I notice that there is water on the floor.
Yup, the pump was pissing water all over my lounge floor - the cat had knocked out the pipes, and it was busy draining my tank onto my living room.
I then moved really fast to sort out the unwanted aquatic rendering of my front room, by hurling down a multitude of towels onto the lovely wooden floor.
Now my living room is fine, all the fishies are good.. and the mama crayfish has moulted, and is hiding away from the big nasty ol' distichodus lusosso, who keeps trying to eat her.
My new huge tank is currently not getting filled, I'm waiting for it to rain. Grr! *shakyfist*
So.. I'm still thinking about what I'm getting for the enw tank.. I'm currently toying with the idea of rays... either them or big catfish. Not sure, as yet.
